Faith Lutheran of New Providence

The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.

We here at St John's are so fortunate, we have been blessed with groups of exceptionally wonderful people. One of these exceptional groups is Faith Lutheran of New Providence. They are a cornerstone of the St John's experience, with over 33 years of faithful volunteer service. Faith Lutheran exemplifies the positivity and goodness that resides in the souls of all people. The vigor and passion with which they work is inspiring, they do not tire or grow complacent in their volunteering efforts. Faith Lutheran is motivated as ever, dedicated in their mission to give back to those that have less, or in some cases nothing at all. Whether it is cleaning the stockroom, handing out clothes, or cooking food they do it with joy in their hearts. This is because they know that their time at St John's Soup Kitchen matters. What they do here is important. Faith Lutheran can actively see the difference they make, and that is a special thing. And all those who come down to the kitchen realize this. The men, women and children of Faith Lutheran treat those in need with kindness, a kindness that they rarely receive. At St John's Soup Kitchen everyone is treated with respect and Faith Lutheran carries on that tradition. Those in need are welcomed with open arms and given a warm meal. In the tireless and seemingly never-ending battle against hunger, Faith Lutheran strives to make a difference in the world with a "hands on" approach. During the cold months fresh cornbread and chili are prepared, a hot meal to stave off the frigid cold. During the summer it's a BBQ, reminding those who are going through tough times of the relaxing and stress free moments in life. We are grateful for all Faith Lutheran does for us and our community. We look forward to their every visit, and anxiously await their return.
